(WWJ) Police have two men in custody, accused of stripping bricks from a city-owned building on Detroit's west side.

According to investigators, neighbors living in the 4000 block of Whitney St. became concerned last Friday, and called the Detroit Land Bank when they saw two men pulling scrap bricks off an abandoned building.

Officers showed up to speak to the men, who claimed they were authorized to do the work — but their paperwork wasn't official, police said.

The pair was arrested and their vehicle was towed.

The man have since been identified as Leon and Leo Sanders, both 59-years-old. Both were arraigned over the weekend on charged of larceny and receiving and concealing stolen property.

They remain held on a $10,000 bond each, awaiting future court proceedings.

In a statement, the Detroit Police Department acknowledged the work of the 10th Precinct General Assignment unit, along with members of the community, for helping to bring these suspects to justice.
