DETROIT (WWJ) – A police standoff on Detroit's west side Tuesday afternoon has ended with a man being taken into custody.
It all began around 2:40 p.m. as a Michigan State Police fugitive team was helping the Michigan Department of Corrections and U.S. Marshals arrest him for a parole violation.
As the fugitive team approached the home on Warwick Street – near Joy Road and the Southfield Freeway – the suspect yelled out the window that he "had a gun and was going to kill himself," MSP officials said on social media.
About two hours later MSP officials said the suspect had been taken into custody and there were no injuries to the public, police or the suspect.
MSP officials had previously said community members could expect a large police presence and were being asked to stay away from the area.
Several WWJ tipsters reported seeing Michigan State Police cars rushing towards the area.
Officials have not released any information on the suspect, including his age or any details about the warrant for his arrest.
