STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A man accused of making potentially deadly pills laced with fentanyl in Macomb County has been arrested after a raid on his Sterling Heights home.

According to Warren Police, the 44-year-old suspect was busted after members of the department's Special Investigation Narcotics Unit (SID) followed up on a tip about Sterling Heights man who may be manufacturing and selling all kinds of narcotics.

Investigators with a search warrant went into the home where they found and seized 2,000 pills disguised as Adderall, which were found to contain "lethal doses" of fentanyl and methamphetamine, police said.

Investigators also found and seized an industrial cement mixer, mixing agents and blenders allegedly used by the suspect to manufacture the fentanyl. They also seized cocaine, drug paraphernalia and about $1,000 in cash.

The pills alone had an estimated street value of around $20,000, police said.

The suspect was arrested without incident and booked in the Warren Police Department Jail to await expected charges by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said this bust is part of a larger effort to crack down on illegal drug activity in the area, noting that his officers have taken more than $3 million in drugs off the streets this year alone.

"This arrest is yet another example of the Warren SID Narcotics Unit investigating tips and ultimately taking sizeable quantities of lethal narcotics off the streets of Warren and Macomb County," Dwyer said, in a statement.

"This arrest should serve as yet another reminder that the Warren Police Department maintains a zero tolerance approach to those suspected of selling illegal drugs in the community."

The suspect's name is being withheld pending an arraignment.
