WESTLAND (WWJ) -- Westland Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a garbage truck and killed.
The deadly crash happened as the victim was walking in the street on Akron Court, near Grand Traverse, just before 5 p.m. on Monday.
Police said the person was hit as the garbage truck was backing up, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the victim was 29 years old, but no further information has been released about them — including whether it was a man or a woman.
No one else was hurt.
The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. It's unclear what charger he may face.
