Westland man attempting to cross road in Canton killed after struck by two vehicles

CANTON (WWJ) - A 33-year-old pedestrian is dead after he was hit by two vehicles while crossing a Canton road early Wednesday morning, police say.

The Canton Police Department told WWJ that the fatal crash occurred on Ford Road, near Haggerty, just before 5 a.m. on December 13th.


When police arrived at the scene, they located a 33-year-old man from Westland that sustained injuries from being struck twice. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to their initial investigation, the victim was not at an intersection crosswalk and tried to cross northbound on Ford Road when he was hit by the two vehicles.

The area has since been cleared by authorities with the intersection back open to motorists.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Police did say they didn't believe alcohol or drugs where contributing factors.
