(WWJ) — Investigators believe alcohol played a role in a Northern Michigan snow plow crash that split a pickup truck in half Tuesday night.
Just before 8 p.m. on Jan. 21, troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post were called to M-26 near Junction Road in Osceola Township after getting reports of a two-vehicle crash with injuries, MSP officials said Monday.
MSP officials say the preliminary investigation revealed a pickup truck was headed south when it lost control and began sliding sideways.
The pickup crossed the centerline and slammed into a northbound pickup that had a snow plow on the front, MSP officials said.
The impact from the crash split the sliding truck in two pieces, according to MSP
The driver of the southbound truck and a passenger in the other truck were taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not disclosed.
Police, firefighters and EMS personnel from eight different agencies assisted Michigan State Police at the scene.
While authorities believe alcohol played a role in the crash, they did not say which driver may have been impaired.
The crash remains under investigation.
