Police are investigating the shooting of an 8-year-old girl, allegedly by her older brother, at the Twelve North Apartment complex in Southfield.
While the child is hospitalized in critical condition, police have taken her 20-year-old brother into custody.
The victim was struck in the head and underwent immediate surgery.
The incident happened at 7 p.m. yesterday, and that's all the information the police are revealing at this time. They have not yet said if the shooting was intentional or what sparked the gunfire at home -- or even where the gun came from and whether anyone else was home at the time.
They did say the case is expected to be presented to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department for possible charges.
