HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) — Police are investigating after a deadly crash in Detroit Thursday afternoon that reportedly happened during a police chase.

Hamtramck police have not confirmed any details surrounding the incident to WWJ Newsradio 950, but multiple reports say it all started during a traffic stop in Hamtramck and ended with an innocent driver dead.

During the stop, two women allegedly assaulted police officers and took off speeding down Conant, according to Fox 2 in Detroit.

A short time later, the suspects’ vehicle slammed into a car waiting in the turn lane near the intersection of Conant and McNichols, according to the report. A person inside that car was killed.

The two women tried to run from the scene but were taken into custody a short time later.

The report says the officers were injured as a result of the alleged assault.

No other details have been released. A Hamtramck police spokesperson told WWJ’s Darrylin Horne more information is expected to be released on Friday.
