(WWJ) A Detroit police officer and a suspect are recovering after a shooting on the city's northwest side.
The officer was grazed by a bullet in an exchange of gunfire with a man, Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, the officer was part of a separate firearms investigation when the gunman got out of a nearby vehicle — on Cambridge near Birwood, in the 7-Mile/Wyoming area — and allegedly started shooting at the officer.
The officer returned fire hitting the suspect twice, and the officer was grazed below his bullet proof vest.
It's not clear at this time what prompted the man to fire at the cop.
No names have been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
