ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway in Roseville after officers shot a man outside a police station.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton reports the shooting happened at around 4:30 a.m. Monday, after the officer's marked police SUV was rammed while parked in the Roseville Police Department parking lot, on VFW Memorial Drive, near Gratiot Ave. and 12 Mile Rd.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, there was an officer inside the police SUV, preparing to leave, was he was rear-ended by a Pontiac G5.
After the collision, sheriff's officials said the driver of the Pontiac — a 36-year-old Roseville man — got out of the car while holding a knife.
Two other officers who were nearby saw what was happening and ordered the man to drop the knife, according to the sheriff's office.
When he didn't, the officers opened fire on the man, shooting him multiple times.
The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in stable condition, officials said.
The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
This remains an active situation, as the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation.
No further details have been released.
