HARPER WOODS (WWJ) - A Wayne County city has seen two shootings this week in the same area, and police say they are still looking for a suspect in one of them.
Harper Woods Police are looking for the suspect in a shooting in the area of E. Vernier Road and Beaconsfield Street that occurred on October 12 around 7 p.m.
Police say they were called to reports of a single car accident. When police arrived, they found the car abandoned and there were bullet holes in the driver side door.
The 19-year-old driver got his own transportation to a local hospital after being shot in the ankle and buttocks, authorities say. He was listed in stable condition.
Authorities say they are looking for a black, 2012-2015 Chevy Cruze in relation to the shooting.
Detectives say they believe the shooting is in response to an incident that occurred earlier in another city.
The investigation is ongoing, including determining where the shooting took place.
On October 11 at around 3:30 p.m., Harper Woods Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Kelly Road and Huntington Avenue.
It was reported that the armed suspects ran east down Huntington Street from Kelly Road. Police set up a perimeter and located the suspects running between houses. The suspects, both juveniles, were arrested following a foot pursuit.
The police also recovered a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
Two victims were identified. They reported that one suspect shot at them several times at close range. The victims weren't injured and there was no property damage reported, police said.
The shooter was placed in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility the same day.
On October 13, the shooter, identified as a 16-year-old Detroit resident, was charged through the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office Juvenile Division. They are facing charges of two counts of assault with intent to commit murder, two counts of felony firearm and one count of carrying a concealed weapon-firearm.
Police say the second suspect was present but wasn't involved in the shooting. They were released into the custody of their legal guardian.
The suspects will not be named due to their juvenile status.
