CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) – Police are searching for a suspect connected to a shooting at the annual Partridge Creek Mall tree lighting ceremony.

Sunday night, officers from the Clinton Township Police Department responded to Partridge Creek along Hall Rd., between Garfield and Romeo Plank Rd, after reports of gunfire.

Officers arrived on scene to find one person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Police have not yet provided an update on the victim’s condition.

Investigators call the shooting an isolated incident between two groups of people. They don’t believe it was targeted against the tree lighting ceremony.

A person of interest was determined during the initial investigation. They are described as a black male wearing a green hooded-sweatshirt with white flowers, jeans, and tennis shoes. They were last seen fleeing the mall to the west.

The Clinton Township Police Department urges all residents in the area to lock their doors and windows as they search for the suspect.
