DETROIT (WWJ) -- A 2-year-old boy who went missing in Detroit on Thursday evening has been found by police.

Officials reported earlier Friday that Jordan Lewis had last been seen in a silver Chevy Malibu, riding away from his home near Plymouth Road and the Southfield Freeway around 11 p.m. last night.

Jordan's mother told police he was taken by his aunt, who handed him off to another woman. She then put the little boy in the car and drove off.

The 12-hour search, which extended to Ypsilanti, came to a close when the child's grandmother pulled into the Detroit Police Department's 6th Precinct on the city's west side Thursday morning around 10 a.m.

WWJ's Mike Campbell was on the scene, and reported that the toddler's aunt gave the boy to the woman last night because of a misunderstanding about who was watching the child.

Jordan has been reunited with his mother and is safe.
