
EASTPOINTE (WWJ) An Eastpointe High School student is accused of stabbing another student in class.
Eastpointe Police and Fire said officers responded to the school around 10 a.m. Tuesday on Couzens near 9 Mile on report of a stabbing.
The suspect had stabbed the victim, 15, multiple times in the upper torso, police said. A knife was recovered at the scene.
Officers were able to apprehend the suspect after running after him for a brief time. He is also 15 and knew the victim, police said.
A motive for the stabbing has not been released.
The school went into lockdown and sent students home abount an hour later.
“All other students and staff…are safe,” Eastpointe High School said in a statement.
The victim is hospitalized in stable condition and has “non-life-threatening injuries,” according to the school.
The suspect is being held at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center.
