Shooting at Flint area shopping center leaves two in critical condition

FLINT (WWJ) Two people have been shot at a mall near Flint, State Police said.

The shooting happened at Genesee Valley Center in Flint Township on Linden Rd near Miller Saturday afternoon, according to State Police. WNEM reports the shots broke out around 3 p.m. near J.C. Penney when a fight started and escalated to gunfire.

The victims are in critical condition. Their ages have not been released. It also remains unknown if the victims were involved in the fight or bystanders.

The entrance of the mall was on lockdown for several hours and the center stayed shut down for the rest of the day. State Police said people must continue avoid the area

Police have not specified whether the shooter or shooters have been taken into custody.
