(WWJ) A Pontiac man is facing multiple felony charges for a crash that killed a mother and two of her children.

According to the Oakland County Sherriff's Office, Tomas Alvarado, Jr. was driving a Honda Civic the evening of Aug. 2, when he crossed center line on Joslyn Rd., left the roadway, and hit several street signs and poles before crashing into a Chevy Malibu that was stopped at a red light on Montcalm Ave.

The Malibu driver, 37-year-old Deniquah Reed, and her two sons, 6-year-old Dior and 4-year-old Dex, were all killed in the crash.

Reed's 9-year-old daughter Demi was seriously injured, but authorities say she has since recovered.

Alvarado, 21, has been charged with three counts of reckless driving causing death and one count of reckless driving causing serious injury.

“Driving a multiple thousand-pound vehicle requires our full and complete attention,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said, in a statement. “This a tragic reminder of that fact and the penalties that await when driving is not safely executed. Our prayers are with the family and friends of those lost.”

Authorities say they don't believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Alvarado turned himself in and was arraigned in Pontiac’s 50th District Court on Monday. He has since been released on a personal bond.
