PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A 22-year-old man has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of his father's girlfriend.
Deveon Latrell Cole of Pontiac was arraigned on Tuesday and remanded into custody in the Oakland County Jail.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 911 call came in at around midnight on Saturday from Cole's father, who reported that Cole had stabbed his father's girlfriend.
When first responders arrived on the scene, at a home in 30 block of N. Roselawn in Pontiac, they found the victim — 57-year-old Monique Sherrie Taylor — lying on the bedroom floor. She was bleeding heavily, with multiple stab wounds to her torso, arms and hands, officials said.
Taylor was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Deputies found the son — who lived in the home with his father and Taylor — in the kitchen. A bloody kitchen knife was found nearby.according the sheriff's office.
Cole's father told investigators that he was in the living room when he heard a commotion, went to investigate, and his son told him that Taylor was dead. It's unclear what led up to the stabbing,
Cole is being held without bond as he awaits his next court appearance, a probable cause conference set for April 30.
