In an operation on Wednesday, Police sent out underage decoys into 34 Port Huron businesses to find out if any would sell them vaping or tobacco products.

Only one business -- the Amoco gas station on Pine Grove Avenue -- was not in compliance with the law and sold those products to the minors. It was not clear what penalties the gas station will be facing.

The other 33 refused to sell vaping and tobacco products to the decoys.

The Port Huron Police Department encourages all businesses to check IDs to prevent the usage of tobacco and vaping products by minors.

According to the 2021 National Youth Tobacco Survey, over 11% of high school students and almost 3% of middle school students reported using e-cigarettes in the past 30 days.
