DETROIT (WWJ) -- A pregnant woman was assaulted while driving on a Detroit freeway this weekend.
Police say the woman was traveling on I-94 near Cadieux on Sunday afternoon when a male passenger threatened to kill her, grabbing the steering wheel and attempting to crash the vehicle.
The woman was able to stop the car and run away, but she was pursued by the suspect. According to witnesses, he then tried to strangle the victim, throwing her to the ground.
Michigan State Police discovered the woman, who is four-months pregnant, lying in the middle of the freeway. She was then taken to a nearby hospital for her injuries.
The suspect was arrested and charges are pending.
