DETROIT (WWJ) A brief police chase, involving a stolen car, led to a deadly crash on Detroit's west side; police said.

Detroit Police said the crash happened on Friday, April 11, around 8 p.m. on Murray Hill Street at Puritan Avenue, in the area of Outer Drive and Greenfield. It killed an innocent bystander, police said.

According to police; the pursuit began when officers from the 12th precinct attempted to initiate a traffic stop, and the suspect fled.

Officers then noticed two cars with "heavy accident damage," according to Pritchett.

She said officers arrested the suspect, a Redford man in his 20s, "several houses away." He was taken to a local hospital, where he's listed in stable condition.

The suspect is wanted for Aggravated Assault in Eastpointe. The crash involved a vehicle stolen from Redford, Pritchett said.
