GROSSE POINTE FARMS (WWJ) – Police in Grosse Pointe Farms are investigating after a rash of steering wheel thefts.
Authorities are asking residents to review any camera footage they may have captured as they search for someone responsible for the thefts.
Police officials say there have been several thefts of steering wheels and steering columns in the areas between Kerby and Fisher and Charlevoix and Chalfonte. Authorities did not specify when the thefts happened.
The thief or thieves broke windows in several Chevy Malibus and Impalas and cut them right out.

Police officials say several other types of vehicles have had items stolen as well, but an auto industry expert told WWJ earlier this spring thieves are often targeting those Chevy models because the steering columns are easy to get out.
