RAY TWP (WWJ) -- After being arrested last week, a 71-year-old Macomb County man was charged with criminal sexual conduct (CSC) for having inappropriate contact with a minor.
The defendant -- now identified as Rex Dale Phelps -- was arraigned Monday and charged with one count of accosting a child and two counts of fourth-degree CSC with a teenager.
Bond was set at $50,000.
Phelps is also expected to face federal charges for similar offenses that allegedly occurred in an aircraft.
In a Mar. 2nd update, Michigan State Police said they had been made aware of possible criminal sexual conduct involving the suspect and a 15-year-old victim.
Authorities obtained search warrants for the suspect's home as well as the Ray Township Airport. After the warrants were executed, the suspect was taken in to custody.
It is still unclear how the suspect and victim knew one another.
