MONROE (WWJ) A Redford man, accused of leading deputies on a chase and hiding from in the bathroom of a hotel, has been arrested.
The Monroe County Sheriff said they received a call from police in Ohio, around 2 a.m. Saturday, saying the Ohio officers had been pursuing a car on northbound I-75 for a traffic-related offense.
The suspect crossed the border into Michigan, and crashed near Erie Rd in Erie, Michigan, according to the sheriff's office.
The driver ran away from the scene into the thick brush along the side of the interstate. Deputies set up a perimeter. A Michigan State Police K-9 team was brought in for assistance.
Before State Police could arrive, two Sheriff's deputies found the suspect hiding in a bathroom at Pier Inn on Super Eight Drive in Luna Pier Michigan; the sheriff's office said.
The 22-year-old Redford man was taken into custody and hospitalized in Toledo for an injury he sustained while fleeing police. An 18-year-old Detroit man was also arrested, but later released.
Investigators believe the car was stolen out of Putnam County, Ohio. They are working with the vehicle owner to confirm this.
The suspect's name has not been released.
