Farmington Hills police investigating report of stranger danger on Halloween

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WWJ) -- Farmington Hills police are investigating a possible report of stranger danger on Halloween night.

Authorities say the incident happened in the area of 14 Mile and Claymore Street around 6 p.m. when a "suspicious person" called two young children over to his vehicle.

The suspect -- who police describe as a white male, about 30 years old, possibly of Arabic descent, with black hair and a black goatee -- stopped his black sedan, possibly a Honda, in the middle of the street, rolled down his window and asked if the children wanted candy.

He motioned for the kids to approach his vehicle, but a parent in the area saw it happen and yelled at the driver, who then took off.

Police did not disclose the ages of the children.

"We will continue to work with the schools and officers will be conducting increased special attention patrols in this area and at area bus stops," Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King said, per a press release.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident, but officials with the Farmington Hills Police Department say they did not receive reports of any other similar incidents in the area on Sunday night during trick-or-treating.

Anyone with information on the suspicious man is asked to contact the Farmington Hills Police Department at 248-871-2610.
