WESTLAND (WWJ) -- There was a lot of damage from a massive fire at a Westland condominiums complex Friday morning, but no one was hurt.
Reporting from the scene, WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton said at least eight condo units were destroyed at the Woodview complex, on Woodview St. near Warren Rd. and Central City Pky. Several more units have water damage.
The fire started just after 5 a.m. on Sept. 5, and fire crews said the flames were burning through the roof when they arrived.
Video showed water being poured into a hole in the roof, which collapsed.
"Luckily there was a fire wall that actually saved the fire from spreading," Langton reported. "But, I talked to the fire chief earlier, and he said once the fire hit the roof and the roof caved it, there was pretty much it for those eight units."
Officials said everyone inside the building was able to escape uninjured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
