LANSING (WWJ) — Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will appear on Michigan ballots this November, his campaign announced Thursday.
Kennedy and his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, were nominated by the Natural Law Party in Michigan, which has filed all necessary documents with the state, officially gaining ballot access.
Kennedy is scheduled to host “A Night of Laughter” comedy show at the Royal Oak Theatre on Sunday to “celebrate his ballot access win.” Rob Schneider will be among the comedians at the event.
His campaign says with Michigan “proving to be one of the closest swing states” in this year’s presidential election, a recent Times/Siena poll of six key battlegrounds placed the independent candidate at 26% in Michigan, within single digits of the lead.
He has also gained ballot access in Utah and has collected enough signatures to be on the ballot in New Hampshire, Nevada, Hawaii, North Carolina, Idaho, Nebraska, and Iowa, according to his campaign.
Kennedy announced last month that attorney and tech entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan would be his vice presidential running mate.
The Kennedy campaign says he and Shanahan have “pledged to restore the middle class, end the chronic disease epidemic, unwind the war machine, and unravel the corporate capture of our government agencies.”
