(WWJ) — A 40-year old Rochester Hills doctor who specializes in internal medicine is accused of sex crimes involving children and adults in Oakland County.

Authorities on Tuesday announced Oumair Aejaz is facing 10 charges, including child sexually abusive activity, stemming from years of alleged abuse and secret recording.

Ajaez is being held on $2 million bond.

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said some of the abuse took place at the Goldfish Swim Club in Rochester Hills, as well as in hospital rooms, changing areas and inside closets, bathrooms and bedrooms that he had access to.

He allegedly used hidden cameras in those locations and recorded victims — ranging in age from 2 years old to grown adults — while they were nude, according to the sheriff’s office.

Ajaez had privileges at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, as well as Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township, but he was not on staff.

Detectives believe Ajaez recorded sexual encounters he had with numerous women, as well as with hospital patients who were either asleep or unconscious.

The sheriff’s office also alleges that Ajaez recorded relatives in the bathroom or while changing clothes.

“This is one of the most disturbing sexual predator cases I have seen in my very long career,” Bouchard said. “He violates literally anyone and everyone he can. From a 2-year-old boy to grown women, no one is immune from his disgusting predatory behavior.”

“Violating children in safe spaces as they change for a fun swim or sexually violating women who are still under sedation from a medical procedure shows his depravity has no limits. At the end of this case, it is my fervent hope he is held fully accountable behind bars,” Bouchard said.

The sheriff’s office got a tip on Aug. 7 and “quickly began to assemble a case against him.” He was arrested the following day as detectives carried out a search warrant at his home.

During that raid, authorities seized six computers, four cell phones and 15 external storage devices. Bouchard said one device had more than 13,000 videos Ajaez recorded over the last six years.

Detectives estimate it will take them about six months to complete a forensic examination of all the confiscated materials.

In total, Ajax is facing the following 10 charges:

• One count of child sexually abusive activity
• One count of using a computer to created and or reproduce child sexually abusive material
• Two counts of capturing/recording children under the age of 18 while nude
• Two counts of capturing/recording two women over the age of 18 while nude
• Four counts of using a computer to commit a crime

Aejaz is a citizen of India who has been working in the United States on a visa, according to the sheriff’s office. He came to this country around 2011, completed his residency at Detroit Sinai Grace Hospital and then moved to Dawson, Alabama.

Aejaz returned to Oakland County to continue his practice in internal medicine in 2018.

Bouchard said he expects the geographic scope of the investigation to increase beyond Genesee and Macomb counties, where the hospitals are located, and may include other states or countries, depending on where Aejaz worked.

The sheriff is encouraging anyone who believes they were a victim of Aejaz to contact sheriff’s detectives at OCSOSIU@oakgov.com.
