BAY CITY (WWJ) -- One person was killed and another was injured in a freeway crash involving a box truck in Mid Michigan over the weakened.
According to Michigan State Police, the deadly accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday along northbound I-75 near U.S. 10, just west of Bay City.
A 62-year-old man from Livonia was driving a box truck in the right lane, according to investigators, when he hit a 2007 Buick that was stopped on the freeway.
When the Buick became engulfed in flames, MSP said, the 40-year-old driver was unable to escape and died at the scene.
Police identified the Buick driver as a 40-year-old man from Saginaw, but his name was not immediately released.
The Livonia man was taken to the hospital and treated for of what MSP described as minor injuries.
It's not clear if the truck driver could face charges, as the investigation continues.
