Second person is in custody in relation to Samantha Woll murder, police say

DETROIT (WWJ) - A second suspect is in custody in connection to the murder of a local Jewish leader, police say.

Detroit Police confirmed late Dec. 10 that someone has been taken into custody in relation to the murder case of Samantha Woll. Part of the statement said "in an effort to ensure the integrity of this ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time. Additional information will be released in the near future."

The Detroit News has reported that the person in custody "appears to be a complete stranger," and had no connection to Woll, according to unnamed sources.

40-year-old Woll, president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, was found stabbed to death outside of her house in the morning of Oct. 21.

Police said previously that they did not believe that antisemitism was a motive behind the murder.

A previous suspect was arrested and released in November.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
