BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – There is a definite buzz in the air for area companies that will be moving into Seneca One tower once it re-opens again early next year.
In May, M&T Bank announced their plans to have 1,000 jobs across 11 floors of Buffalo’s tallest building with the hope of as many as 1,500 jobs over three years.
"This re-imaged, re-engineered, and reconstructed space will be an important part of our future at M&T Bank," M&T Bank Chairman Rene Jones said in June. "But maybe more important, we think it's the first step towards a stronger and more innovative future for the City of Buffalo."
43 North, the organization that annually hosts a competition to give startup companies a chance for growth in the Buffalo market, is another key tenant that will soon make the jump to Seneca One Tower.
Like many who have followed the redevelopment of Seneca One, a building that has stood largely vacant for most of this decade, Gress called the development by Douglas Jemal and Douglas Development “transformative.”
“On the physical side, you’re connecting all this amazing development that’s happened on Canalside and the waterfront and really the Larkin District,” he said. “All of that can be connected now through the Seneca One Tower onto the Main Street corridor.”
