Shelby Twp. man accused of stabbing mother while she was sleeping
(WWJ) - A Shelby Township man is facing an assault charge after officials said he stabbed his mother.
30-year-old Miles Farish allegedly stabbed his mother multiple times while she was sleeping in her bed, according to authorities.
Farish has been charged with assault with intent to murder, which is a life felony.
"My office is committed to seeking justice for the victims of domestic violence and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions, fostering safer homes and stronger families," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said in a written statement.
Farish was arraigned on Jan. 12. His bond was set at $2 million cash only. If Farish is released on bond, he must wear a steel GPS tether and is not allowed to have contact with his mother.
Authorities said Farish is being referred to Community Corrections for a mental health evaluation.
A probable cause hearing is set for Jan. 25 and a preliminary exam is scheduled for Feb. 1.
