(WWJ) A search is underway for a woman who smashed her car into a newly built home in Pontiac.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said the driver struck the home on Going St., in the area of Woodward and Auburn, around 2:41 a.m. Monday.

The suspect—believed to be driving either a red Ford Escape or Mercury Milan Hybrid—lost control, careened across the lawn and hit the front bedroom of the single story home, according to the sheriff’s office.

She was apparently going over the 25 mile per hour speed limit, the sheriff said.

Investigators said she may have been trying to avoid a pickup truck parked across the street from the home.

Within two minutes of the crash, a white SUV that can be seen on the video following the woman picked her up at the scene and “sped away”; according to the sheriff.

It’s unclear if she was hurt or how she knew the person who helped her escape.

Before deputies got there; a second unknown person had driven away in the red car the woman struck the house with.

Her car is believed to have sustained “significant damage to the hood, the front bender, and bumper.”

The full extent of damage to the three-bedroom home has not been fully assessed.

No other details about any of the drivers involved have been revealed.

Anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
