Southfield Police search for driver of wrecked car after crash on the Lodge

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) Southfield Police are trying to solve a mystery surrounding a wrecked car that crashed on the Lodge in the middle of the night.

Southfield Police said the crash happened on Saturday, December 20th, around 2:45 a.m. on the southbound Lodge near Nine Mile Road. Officers conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area-- with the help of a Michigan State Police air unit-- but were unable to find a driver or any passengers of the car.

Authorities told WWJ police also contacted nearby hospitals for victims who may have sought treatment for injuries. However, that search also turned up empty.

The highway was temporarily closed, but has since reopened.
