(WWJ) – The calendar of annual meteor showers saves one of its' best for last.

The Geminids will light up the sky Monday night into Tuesday morning and this shower is known as one of the best and most reliable for its bright, fast and abundant meteors.

WWJ's Erin Vee spoke with Mike Murray -- Planetarium Manager at Delta College near Bay City about Mother Nature's light show -- who calls the Geminids "one of the most spectacular" light shows of the year.

Murray says the showers are best viewed in the northern hemisphere, and will peak for Michiganders from around 2 a.m. until dawn.

"Next to the Perseid meteor showers, which everybody knows about in August, the Geminids are probably one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year," Murray said. "And it's because of numbers, of course -- lots of meteors in the count -- but also because of how bright they are and how colorful they can be."

NASA will also be livestreaming the night sky through its meteor camera at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. For those who don't want to brave the December nighttime cold to catch the showers, the live stream will begin at 9 p.m. WATCH HERE.
