(WWJ) U.S. Capitol Police in Washington D.C. have taken a St. Clair County man into custody after investigating a suspicious vehicle in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Officials identified the suspect arrested as 55-year-old Dale Paul Melvin of Kimball, Michigan, which is just west of Port Huron.

Deputy Chief Jason Bell said the incident unfolded at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, when an SUV was found parked illegally in front of the Supreme Court.

"The man was refusing to speak, and at approximately 11 o'clock, our teams moved in and removed him from the vehicle and placed him under arrest," Bell told CBS News. "... The man refused to talk, made a statement to the effect of the time for talking was done."

No injuries were reported.

It's unclear at this time what charges Melvin may face.

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments today about a murder case from Michigan. Ervine Davenport, 56, was found guilty of first-degree murder for strangling Annette White in his car, and dumping her body in a field. Thirteen years later, SCOTUS is considering a case that could overturn his conviction.
