PORT HURON TWP (WWJ) -- A St. Clair County woman has been charged in a hit-and-run after she struck and killed a Good Samaritan -- a woman who went out into the road to help with a previous crash.

As reported by MLive, a 30-year-old Marysville man called 911 at approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 30, 2022. He had driven into a bicyclist -- a 56-year-old Fort Gratiot man -- on Dove Rd in Port Huron Twp.

A 40-year-old woman who lived nearby made her way out to the road to help. It was then that she was struck by 37-year-old Jacalyn Reid, who drove off.

Tragically, the Good Samaritan woman and the bicyclist both died of their injuries.

Reid was later arrested and has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death as well as driving on a suspended license. She has been released on a $5,000 bond.

The driver who struck the bicyclist remained at the scene and continues to cooperate with authorities, per MLive.
