DETROIT (WWJ) -- State officials are holding an online meeting to address residents’ concerns over foul smells coming from the Stellantis plant on Detroit’s east side.

The virtual meeting — hosted by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) — is set for Jan. 27 at 6 p.m.
Representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Michigan Health Department will be joining in to address community members about complaints over the Stellantis Detroit Assembly Complex, run by the company formerly known as FCA, or Fiat-Chrysler.
Those living close to the Stellantis plant said bad odors have continued to emit from the site and are now worried how it will affect their health and the environment.
Previous complaints were investigated by the EGLE and the plant was issued a number of violations back in November of 2020 for poor odor, pollution, and emission control from improperly installed equipment.
The Stellantis plant was fined and ordered to submit an environmental compliance plan.
Work to fix the equipment issues was completed last month, according to the EGLE.
Results on the assembly plant's air samples — which were collected in November — is expected to be provided by officials in the Jan. 27 meeting.
Community members can pre-register for the meeting or join in Jan. 27 here. a call-in option is also available at at 636-651-3142. Type in conference code 374288 to join.
