(WWJ) Michigan State Police say a woman who pretended to be pregnant during a traffic stop was actually hiding a gun under her shirt.

Troopers with the Metro South Secure Cities Partnership stopped the woman, who was driving a Chrysler 200 with a male passenger, for a traffic violation in Inkster Tuesday night.

Police said the woman told them she was pregnant and admitted to driving on a suspended license.

During a search conducted by a female trooper, it was discovered that the woman's purported baby bump was actually a stuffed pouch she was wearing under her shirt. Hidden in the stuffing was a semi automatic pistol, police said.

According to MSP, the man in the car also admitted to having oxycodone pills. Both suspects were arrested and taken to the Inkster Police lockup.

Expected charges are pending. No names were immediately released.
