DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are investigating two separate shootings on Detroit freeways over Memorial Day weekend.
According to the MSP Second District, troopers with a K-9 found multiple shell casings along the northbound Lodge Freeway (M-10), between Linwood and Livernois, after a driver called 911 at around 1:30 a.m. Monday and said someone was shooting at him.
Investigators confirmed that the driver's vehicle was hit by several rounds.
Fortunately, the victim, a 30-year-old Southfield man, was not injured in the shooting.
The suspect vehicle was described only as a dark-colored sedan.
The investigation is ongoing.
The shooting on the Lodge came after another man reported he was shot while driving on the Davison Freeway (M-8) near the Lodge, at around 2 a.m. Sunday.
The victim said he rear-ended a car, and when he pulled over the other driver got out and fired shots.
The man was hit in the elbow, but didn't go to the hospital until five hours later. He then reported the shooting to police Sunday afternoon.
MSP said the victim couldn't give any information about the alleged gunman, and is no longer cooperating in the investigation.
Anyone with information about either of these shootings is asked to call MSP at 734-287-5000 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (800-773-2587).
