WARREN (WWJ) — Stellantis is cutting a shift at its Warren Truck Assembly Plant, eliminating as many 2,450 workers, according to WWJ Auto Beat Reporter Jeff Gilbert.
Gilbert reports that Stellantis officials believe the final layoff number will be lower than that, but that is an official number the company has to report.
These layoffs could begin as early as Oct. 8, according to Gilbert.
"What Stellantis is doing is discontinuing production of the older, classic version of the Ram pickup — they're building a similar vehicle in Sterling Heights," Gilbert said live on WWJ.
The Warren plant will be reduced to just one shift, building only the Jeep Wagoneer SUV, according to Gilbert.
