(WWJ) - Stellantis has announced further layoffs effective today.
In a statement on October 13, Stellantis said there would be an additional 700 employees from the Kokomo Transmission and Kokomo Casting Plants in Indiana laid off temporarily.
Stellantis has laid off over 1,300 employees across three states since the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike began almost a month ago.
The company said the layoffs are due to the plants reaching their maximum inventory levels.
No further layoffs were announced for Michigan.
UAW President Shawn Fain announced a change of strategy for the strike earlier today. He said that strike expansion announcements would no longer be made only on Fridays and that union members have a right to be mad. There have been roughly 34,000 UAW members put on strike since it began on September 15.
