Sterling Heights man arrested after authorities seize drugs, dozens of guns in series of Macomb County raids

(WWJ) — A Sterling Heights man is behind bars after authorities seized a large amount of drugs, guns and money during a series of raids across Macomb County this week.

John Gramlich, 39, was arraigned Friday morning on various drug and gun charges after raids in Sterling Heights, St. Clair Shores and Harrison Township on Wednesday, Jan. 22, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

Gramlich remains held at the Macomb County Jail on a $25,000 cash/surety bond.

The raids were the result of a narcotics investigation led by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET).

A number of other local and federal agencies, including the DEA, assisted in executing search warrants Wednesday at addresses near Schoenherr and 14 Mile in Sterling Heights, near 9 Mile and I-94 in St. Clair Shores and near Harper and Cottrell in Harrison Twp.

During those searches, authorities seized:

• Approximately 290 grams of cocaine
• Approximately 10 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms
• $4,018.00 in cash
• Multiple pistols, rifles, and shotguns
• Multiple boxes of ammunition
• Multiple extended magazines
• Chevy Silverado pickup truck

A photo shared by the sheriff's department shows at least 12 pistols and nearly two dozen shotguns or rifles. Authorities have not said whether the guns were legally registered.

In total, Gramlich is facing five felonies and three misdemeanors:

• One count of controlled substance – delivery/manufacture (cocaine, heroin, or another narcotic) more than 50 grams — a 20-year felony
• One count of controlled substance – delivery/manufacture (schedule 2) more than 50 grams — a 20-year felony
• One count of receiving and concealing firearm — a 10-year felony
• Two counts of felony firearm — a 2-year felony
• One count of maintaining a drug house – a 2-year high court misdemeanor
• One count of altering a firearm – a 2-year high court misdemeanor
• One count of controlled substance - possession (schedule 5 and LSD, etc.) – a 1-year misdemeanor.

If released, Gramlich will be ordered to wear a GPS tether. The sheriff’s office did not release information about his next court date.
