STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A Macomb County man finally returned a library book to his former elementary school -- 40 years later.

When Pier Fazzalari opened up a book to read to his two young daughters, he made an interesting discovery: A stamp that read "Dresden Elementary School."

Dresden, in the Utica Community School district, is where he attended as a child 40 years ago and where his kids, who are in kindergarten and second grade, currently attend.

The book is a reading series anthology called “Cloverleaf,”

Fazzalari said he didn't mean to keep the library book.

The book has since been to the school's library and back on the shelves.

In a tongue-in-cheek note, school officials say they are now trying to calculate the overdue fines.
