STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A shuttered Sears store at Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights has a new owner.

Mario Kiezi, who recently bought Oakland Mall, has now added the Sears building on Hall Road that closed permanently in 2018 to his list of properties.

As of right now, Keizi said he's considering a lot of first-to-market retailers and restaurants; however, he said there aren't any plans finalized for the space.

"In today's world, there's a lot of supply chain issues which makes it very difficult to build," said Kiezi. "Prices are through the roof and it's just a lot of uncertainty out there."

Kiezi had his eyes set on the 325,000-square-foot vacant building, saying it was attractive because of its age, cost and layout. Now, he says he looks forward to continuing to invest in the community.

He added that his company is working with national retailers to see what the best long-term objective is for the project.

According to Crains Detroit, this is Kiezi's second former Sears purchase. He bought the 407,000-square-foot Sears store at Oakland Mall at 14 Mile and John R. roads, which is partly being transformed into a Hobby Lobby store.

Kiezi bought Oakland Mall in late March and said at the time that he plans a "massive remodeling" there, Crains Detroit reports.

As for Lakeside Mall, the building sold for $26.5 million at the end of 2019, reports Crains Detroit.
