STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) — A woman has died after a crash on Schoenherr Road Tuesday afternoon in Sterling Heights.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. near 15 Mile Road and involved four vehicles, according to Sterling Heights police
Police officials say a driver headed south on Schoenherr crossed into the northbound lanes and slammed head-on into a car driven by a 64-year-old Sterling Heights woman.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash or if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
Officials did not say whether anyone else was injured in the crash or how the other two vehicles were involved.
Schoenherr remained closed between 15 Mile and Bathgate Drive until after 6 p.m.

WWJ's Darrylin Horne reported from the scene "one of those vehicles has no roof at all and there's debris everywhere."
Charlie Kavanaugh, who has lived nearby for the better part of three decades, told Horne crashes happen quite a bit in the area, but "nothing like this."
"And I've seen cars mangled. But what I'm seeing over there is totally out of control," he said. "The black vehicle, it's like, 'what the hell hit that!?'"
