EASTPOINTE (WWJ) -- An Eastpointe student is accused of threatening to shoot up his high school through a post on Instagram and could soon face up to ten years in prison.
On Thursday, Eastpointe High School was on lockdown after police were alerted that a student may be in possession of a firearm.
Eastpointe Police said a student noticed another student's Instagram post, showing him holding a rifle magazine and threatening to "shoot up the school." The Instagram photo appeared to be taken a few weeks ago at a friend's home, said authorities.
Police found the student, took him into custody and then placed him in the Macomb County Youth Home. No weapons were found on the suspect, in the school or in the suspect's home.
A hearing will be held Friday at the youth home on a charge of making an intentional threat to commit violence against a school.
