(WWJ) - It can be a plain cappuccino, a jalapeño craft beer, a lavender latte, a pineapple-infused tequila, a chocolate caramel cold brew or a pumpkin ale, but regardless if its coffee or alcohol, Michiganders can't go long without it.
According to a study conducted by CraftCoffeeSpot.com, the average Michigander make it 15 days without booze, but only nine days without coffee.
"Coffee and alcohol have become an integral part of American culture, enjoyed by millions of people every day," Marko Lazarevic, Founder & Editor in Chief at CraftCoffeeSpot.com, said. "The popularity of coffee, in particular, is a testament to its rich history, versatility, and unique flavor profiles."
The study surveyed 4,000 respondents, 18-years-old and up, who also gave insight into just how much we're wiling to pay for our favorite morning pick-me-ups.
According to the results, coffee drinks will shell out as much as $5.57 on average for just one cup.
According to the results, Michiganders can at least hold off on the java and booze longer than states such a New Hampshire and Virginia. Residents in the Granite State admitted they can last only two days without coffee.
Virginians surveyed said they could last a little over a week and a half, roughly 11 days, before reaching for alcohol.
It's no surprise American's dependence on coffee wins out over our love of alcohol. Coffee is often see as a jump start to the day, our pick-me-up before and during work. Survey organizers said they found that 66% of Americans drink coffee daily. For Michiganders, it's much needed warmth on a chilly winter morning or refreshing when its iced on a hot summer day.
"Coffee has become a staple in many Americans' daily routines, providing a much-needed boost of energy and comfort," Lazarevic added. "While alcohol also has its place in American culture, there is an evident growing demand for high-quality coffee - from specialty roasts to artisanal brewing methods, Americans are exploring the many facets of coffee and embracing it as a part of their daily lives."
