(WWJ) A substitute teacher has been removed from the Huron Valley Schools district, after being accused of sexually assaulting multiple children.

Attorney Ven Johnson is representing at least three families who accuse the teacher of inappropriately touching their kids — all of them students at Spring Hills Elementary.

Johnson said this is not the first time this teacher has faced these kinds of accusations.

"He was accused of doing this in the same school last year in 2023, where our investigation reveals that the principal was told about this, and apparently never reported it," Johnson said.

No criminal charges have been announced against the teacher at this time.

But Johnson said this same sub has faced charges in the past.

"He was accused, and in fact ultimately was charged, with criminal sexual conduction in the second degree back in 2016, and for some reason that prosecution was dismissed," Johnson said.

A criminal investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the results will be turned over to the prosecutor's office.

Johnson said a civil lawsuit is likely to be filed after the criminal investigation is complete.

"Obviously, everyone in the school, the elementary school, are up in arms. And I certainly don't blame them," Johnson said, adding that he believes the school district had a duty to conduct a full investigation.

Asked about the parents' state of mind, Johnson said they're "absolutely frantic."

"As any parent of any child (would be); let alone a small girl who's now hearing that, not only may their daughter have been sexually molested, but by somebody who has been accused of this in the past, and no one informed the parents of this."

The teacher is no longer employed by the district.
