TROY (WWJ) -- A Macomb County woman faces possible jail time after she was arrested for allegedly driving while "super drunk" in Troy.
At around 12 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, Troy Police officers pulled the suspect over after she was spotted "speeding and swerving" on Big Beaver Rd. near Dequindre Rd. in a 2014 Jeep Compass.
When officers spoke with the driver, a 28-year-old Shelby Township woman, they said they noticed her speech was slow and slurred and her eyes were glassy.
She was asked to perform several sobriety evaluations, police said, but she failed the test. A breathalyzer then showed her BAC (blood alcohol concentration) was .214% — which is well over twice the legal limit to drive under Michigan law.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Troy PD lock-up, where police said a Chemical Breath Test showed results of .203% and .206%.
Police said the woman was issued a citation for Operating with a Blood Alcohol Content of .17% or More.
Under Michigan's "Super Drunk Laws," drivers with a BAC more than twice the state's legal limit of .08% face stiffer penalties, including up to 180 days in jail if convicted as charged.
The woman's name was not released.
