DETROIT (WWJ) - Customers who ordered certain Bronco SUVs are being offered a credit from Ford Motor Co. to downgrade after the automaker said high-end models will take longer to build -- or may not be built at all.
The company told WXYZ that supply chain issues are to blame for the current dilemma. Officials said customers who ordered a vehicle that is not currently in production are being offered a $2,500 credit to switch to a different model that doesn't have higher-end features.
The company said qualifying customers also have the choice to use the $2,500 toward another Ford vehicle if they no longer want to go through with their Bronco order.
Customers who are covered by purchase protection will get another $2,500 off their total price if they decide to change their order and downgrade to a Bronco without Sasquatch, hard top or luxe packages, WXYZ reported.
This additional credit applies only to a handful of customers that signed contracts back in 2021, the company added.
While customers can choose to wait for their vehicle, Ford warned that the supply chain issues may prevent it from being built.
On it's Bronco website, Ford said "due to high demand, the current model year is no longer available for retail order." However, the post says that limited inventory may be available at certain dealers.
Customers have until March 7 to contact their dealer with a final decision.
